American College of Pediatricians Position on Gay Marriage

The American College of Pediatricians published a page on their website entitled Same-Sex Marriage: Not Best for Children (see link below) where they provide medical and scientific reasons why gay marriage is harmful to children.  Great information from medical practitioners.
Proverbs 11:14  Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

Choosing the Best Course of Action

Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall : but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

This verse teaches us that it is not wise to go it alone.  We are all falliable and need counsel because our own reasoning by itself will fail us.  Our very nature is revealed by Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked : who can know it? Continue reading

Dependence upon God

Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

This verse informs us that a person may decide a direction to take in life and may plan how to get there, but it is the Lord Who guides his steps.  This is dependence.  As Jesus stated in John 15:5, “without me ye can do nothing”, we cannot prosper without divine assistance.  Continue reading

Resistance or Grace?

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

This verse is a paraphrase of Proverbs 3:34:

Proverbs 3:34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Getting Direction for Your Life

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

These two verses are among the more familiar ones in the Bible.  As I was reading these verses recently, one word jumped out at me.  Used twice in this passage, the word “all” is of particular importance. Continue reading
