Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall : but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

This verse teaches us that it is not wise to go it alone.  We are all falliable and need counsel because our own reasoning by itself will fail us.  Our very nature is revealed by Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked : who can know it?

The proverb above also instructs us to seek many counsellors.  While one good counsellor is enough, we are often not very discerning when given very few options.  If we trust the same person over and over, chances are they will be wrong from time to time.  However, with several trusted people providing advice, wisdom will be easier to recognize.

The result of all this is “safety”.  This word could also be translated “deliverance” or “victory”.  The opposite is failure.  Trust in multiple counsellors to discern the best course of action and have success.
