Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

This verse informs us that a person may decide a direction to take in life and may plan how to get there, but it is the Lord Who guides his steps.  This is dependence.  As Jesus stated in John 15:5, “without me ye can do nothing”, we cannot prosper without divine assistance. 

If you are like me, there are many times in life when you have set goals, whether large or small, and pursue them.  Sometimes it isn’t until later that I recognize God’s hand in what I have been doing to help me achieve them.  While this demonstrates the grace of God, it reveals my pride in thinking that I can do things all by myself.

God is involved in the lives of Christians in a special way.  As His children, He cares for us as His own.  Just as a child may not always appreciate or recognize the importance of the involvement of a parent, we may not readily see God’s work in our lives, but He is there and loves us all the same.

We should all take some time and thank God for His work in our lives and ask for His continued blessing as we live for Him.
