Mankind – The Sixth Day – Part 2

At the pinnacle of God’s creation is mankind.  Humans are exclusive among all other creatures in that they are created in the image and likeness of God.

Genesis 1:26-28  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

The Need for Spirit-Led Bible Study

I want to cover a topic that is sometimes overlooked or at least under-emphasized when discussing Bible study.  That is the fact that proper interpretation is a matter of spiritual guidance, not just grammar, syntax, and context.  Even a thorough knowledge of the original languages of the BIble (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) is no substitute for the active work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer.  Continue reading

Why Study the Bible?

The Bible is a collection of writings which reveal who God is and how He relates to His creation, especially His relationship to mankind.  In addition, the Bible provides us with an infallible guide for living.  After all, the One who created life knows best how life should be lived.  Most importantly, the Bible reveals God’s plan for mankind, particularly, His plan of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.  The Bible shows us where we came from, who we are, and why we need salvation.  For these reasons, the Bible is an indispensable tool for knowing God and truly living an abundant life.
