Marriage Equality Debate Heats Up

Here is an atheist doing exactly what he’s accusing Christians of doing—promoting misinformation, using bad logic, and ignoring basic facts.  http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/06/15/christian-pundit-desperately-tries-to-equate-same-sex-marriage-to-polygamy-child-brides-video/  Here’s one example, he faults Cal Thomas for pointing out what I think is obvious—that changing the law regarding marriage can lead to a whole bunch of other “non-traditional” marriage rights being fought for (polygamy, adult-child marriage, etc.).  But he simply states that there are laws against polygamy and adult-child marriage and considers the debate closed.  However, he ignores the fact that there are laws in many states prohibiting homosexual marriage!  If those laws can be overturned, so can the ones governing polygamy and adult-child marriage!

Bird with Long Tail Feathers Wows Scientists

Scientists find a fossil of what looks like a hummingbird with elongated feathers and they pronounce that it’s 115 million years old.  Birds like this exist today (such as the male Anna’s Hummingbird).  Regardless, we get pabulum like this:

“These are weird feathers that occur in extinct birds,” said Richard Prum, a professor of ornithology at Yale University who was not involved with the study. “But they’re on a separate line. They have nothing to do with modern feathers. It’s fascinating.”

Does Free Will Exist?

I’m reading a book written by an agnostic critical of the Christian faIth and theism in general.  It’s titled “Divinity of Doubt” by Vincent Bugliosi.  It is sort of an apologetic for agnosticism, so he is also critical of atheism as well. There is no doubt that Mr. Bugliosi is an intelligent and well-educated man.  His reasoning and wit in the book is engaging.  He has made me thoroughly interested in the view of Christianity from an agnostic perspective.  However, I am not persuaded.  In this post, I would like to address just one of his criticisms which I found to be very odd. Giving Thanks to the Lord

1 Chronicles 16:8  Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

This verse is David’s response to the return of the Ark of the Covenant.  The Ark represented the presence and power of God in Israel.

All believers can be thankful that God is present in our lives and that we have His power through the Spirit of God Who is resident in our lives.

1 Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

We have many things to be thankful for.  One of the greatest is that God is with us.
